Nicknames: students can change their nickname in Pet Squad. They open the menu, choose Settings & Profile, edit Public player name and select Update profile. If you've turned off nicknames for the class, they can't change it.
Usernames: students can't change their username. You can change a student's name, or set a new password, with the gear icon next to the student on your Classes page.
